Italian physicist Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) obtained a patent for a successful system of radio telegraphy at age twenty-two. In 1901, he succeeded in receiving signals transmitted across the Atlantic Ocean (Cornwales-New Foundland). In 1909 he received the Nobel Prize for physics with Braun.
