Signing of the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919

On June 28, 1919, in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, the Treaty of Versailles between Germany and the Allies was signed, ending the First World War. In the centre is American President Thomas Woodrow Wilson, on his left is French Council President Georges Clemenceau. For Germany, excluded from the negotiations, this treaty will be experienced as a Diktat and a humiliation. Photograph published in L'Illustration of July 5, 1919.
