View of '...the noble Holstein Thor, which stands before us as we quit the Lübeck station and gives us an earnest of the grandeur which awaits us within the walls of Lübeck. This gateway, like most of the buildings here, is of red and glazed bricks, arranged in various devices. It forms a singularly striking and picturesque object as we enter this glorious old city'.
