Caption

The International Exhibition: muslin embroidered coverlet, designed and manufactured by Messrs. Brown, Sharps, and Tyars, of Watling-street, and of Paisley, 1862. 'The design consists of a rich border, with a wreath, in which the rose, shamrock, and thistle are arranged, in the corners and sides are the Prince of Wales's feathers, and in the centre the Royal arms, encircled by a similar wreath. The centrepiece was embroidered by the house-workers of Messrs. Brown, Sharps, and Tyars, at Paisley; and the wreath and border were done at their establishment at Donaghadee, Ireland, by some of the best sewers of that place. The satin-work and point d'arme are beautifully executed. The open parts of the border and flowers are filled with a great variety of stitches in real point, executed in Ayr, which has been long celebrated for having the best hands for this fine and costly description of work'.
