'Among the guests of the evening were Mr. Dudley Mann and Mr. Yancey, who have come to this country as the Plenipotentiaries of the Confederate States of North America...Fishmongers' Hall is situated at the north-west foot of London-bridge. It was rebuilt in 1830-3, and is the third of the company's halls nearly on this site...The banqueting-hall, of which we give an Engraving...is 73ft. by 38ft., and 33ft. high, and has Sienna scagliola Corinthian pilasters, between which are suspended the arms of the benefactors and past prime wardens of the company. At one end of the hall are the Royal arms, and opposite those of the company, in stained glass; and on the front of the music-gallery are emblazoned the arms of the City and twelve great companies'.
