Council representatives in Colombo, 1785. The Dessave (European judge employed by the VOC) on his veranda to "dispose of the affairs and disputes of the native." At the meeting are the captains (the representatives or foremen) of the population of Ceylon. People seeking justice are waiting on the right. A dog is sleeping in the foreground. With inscription.
