Rice's "Summer Nights"...The Great Success of "Clorindy" or the Origin of the Cake-Walk"'; words by Paul Laurence Dunbar, music by Will. Marion. 'Clorindy' was a musical by African-American writers with African-American performers. From a collection of sheet music, some examples of which depict African Americans in a derogatory way. Other examples are songs by white musicians purporting to be black.
