Visit of His Royal Highness Prince Albert to the Great Exhibition Building in Hyde Park - the "Parting Cheer", 1850. 'Prince Albert's visit to the building...appears to have been particularly gratifying. His Royal Highness minutely inspected the various mechanical contrivances employed about the details of the structure, and seemed thoroughly astonished at the progress of all the operations connected therewith. He was loudly cheered on leaving the ground.' The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations was an international exhibition which took place in Hyde Park, London. It was the first in a series of World's Fairs, and was organised by Prince Albert and Henry Cole (first director of the South Kensington Museum, later the Victoria and Albert Museum).
