Funeral of His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge - the Procession at Kew, [west London], 1850. Adolphus Frederick, Duke of Cambridge, was the tenth child and seventh son of the British king George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. 'The funeral arrangements were of the most unostentatious description - this being also in strict accordance with the illustrious Duke's wishes; and still further to insure the privacy of the ceremonial, it was ordered that the procession should move from Cambridge House shortly after six in the morning and that the interment should take place shortly after ten o'clock...the mortal remains of this estimable Prince were conveyed to their temporary resting-place, in a vault beneath Kew Church...The entrance porch and floor of the church were covered with black cloth...'.
