27-28 Greyfriars Lane, Coventry, Coventry, Coventry, 1941. The front elevation of 27 and 28 Greyfriars Lane and the access to Court 6, showing evidence of bomb damage. Coventry City centre was devastated by air raids in 1940. In this photograph it's possible to see part of the timber framed south end of Ford's Hospital which, despite suffering a direct hit was restored in 1953. Number 27 & 28 Greyfriars Lane also suffered serious damage and was demolished. The site is now occupied by retirement flats.
