Shiva, early 1100s. The parallel matted locks of hair and the incised third eye on the forehead identify this figure as the Hindu god Shiva. A close-cropped beard comes to a point at his chin. The slim elegant form and short lower garment fastened with a low-slung belt are features characteristic of this period.
