Design for a lunette with portrait of Prince Albert, c1863, (1881). Decorative double arch and screen surmounted by a mosaic portrait of Albert, Prince Consort (1819-1861). The two openings of the screen are framed by twisted columns of ornate metalwork in this proposal for the north end of the interior of the Prince Consort's Gallery in the Victoria & Albert Museum. Albert, prior to his death in 1861, had been an important figure in the establishing of the Museum and of the surrounding area of South Kensington, known as Albertopolis.
