Frederick William I builds Berlin, (1936). 'Friedrich Wilhelm I Baut Berlin'. Frederick William I of Prussia had many famous buildings constructed in Berlin, most of which still exist. Frederick William I (1688-1740) was King in Prussia and Elector of Brandenburg from 1713 until his death, as well as the father of Frederick the Great.
