Portrait bust of Lucilla, wife of the Roman Emperor Lucius Verus, c160-c170. Lucilla (c148-182) was the daughter of Marcus Aurelius and Faustina the Younger. Marcus and Lucilla's husband were Co-Emperors of Rome from 161 until 169, when Lucius Verus died. After his death, her father forced her to marry a political ally of his, Claudius Pompeianus. Lucilla was exiled to Capri and executed after plotting against Marcus' successor, her brother Commodus. Found in the collection of The Hermitage, St Petersburg.
