The body of Richard II brought to St Paul's Cathedral, London, 1400 (1864). After he died in prison at Pontefract Castle in unknown circumstances, the body of the deposed King Richard II (1367-1400) was brought to St Paul's, where it lay in state for two days, to ensure that the people might know for certain that he was dead.
