Supermarket checkout, Mexborough, South Yorkshire, 1966. An advertising image for Hamax cleaning products. Washing up liquid (half a gallon for 5 shillings) and perfumed disinfectant are seen amongst other more edible products. Hamax manufactured in the South Yorkshire town of Mexborough for a number of years before passing from the Hamer family in 1991. It continued trading before finally closing in 1994.
