Memorial of the Fort Dearborn Massacre, Chicago, Illinois, USA, c1900. The Fort Dearborn Massacre Monument, bronze sculpture by Carl Rohl-Smith made in 1893, to commemorate a battle between US troops and Potawatomi Native Americans near Fort Dearborn on 15 August 1812. The battle, which lasted about 15 minutes, resulted in a complete victory for the Potawatomi who burned down the Fort. From Scenic Marvels of the New World edited by Prof. Geo.R. Cromwell.
