The Order of St. Ferdinand of Spain'. The Royal and Military Order of Saint Ferdinand was founded by the Cádiz Cortes in 1811 to honour heroic feats of arms. Its decoration is known as Laureate Cross of Saint Ferdinand. The medallion features the effigy of Saint Ferdinand rounded by a gold and blue edge with the Spanish motto 'AL MERITO MILITAR' (TO THE MILITARY MERIT). The ribbon is red and yellow.
