The Free Russian Library and reading room, 15 Whitechapel Road, Stepney, London, c1901 (1901). The Free Russian Library was set up by Aleksei Teplov. Opening on 13 July 1893 it provided Russian emigres living in London with access to Russian literature. Teplov intended to reduce illiteracy in the Russian community in East London.
