The Colours of the 1st Royal Munster Fusiliers, Rangoon, Burma, 1913. The Royal Munster Fusiliers was a regular infantry regiment of the British Army. Based largely in Ireland, they had their home depot in Tralee. They were originally formed in 1881 by the amalgamation of two regiments of the former East India Company. They served in India and in the World War I. Following the establishment of the independent Irish Free State in 1922, the five regiments that had their traditional recruiting grounds in the counties of the new state were disbanded. From an album entitled '1st Royal Munster Fusillers, Rangoon, 1913.
