Carolingian queen, 7th-10th century (1882-1884). The Carolingian dynasty was founded by Charles Martel (686-741) They became rulers of the Franks in 751 when Pepin the Short overthrew the last Merovingian king, Childeric III. The greatest Carolingian ruler was the Emperor Charlemagne (742-814). After a sculpture in Chartres Cathedral.
