The Duke of York's Column from St James's Park, Westminster, London, 19th century. Completed in 1834, the column is dedicated to Prince Frederick, Duke of York, the second son of King George III. It stands in Waterloo Place, where the Mall and Regent Street meet. The bronze statue of the Duke, who was commander-in-chief of the British Army during the French Revolutionary Wars, is by Richard Westmacott. Frontispiece from Dugdale's England and Wales.
