Wollaton Hall, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, home of Lord Middleton, c1880. Wollaton Hall was built in the 1580s and is said to be by the Elizabethan architect Robert Smythson, who also designed Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire. It was remodelled by Jeffrey Wyatville early in the 19th century. Today it houses the Nottingham Natural History Museum. A print from A Series of Picturesque Views of Seats of the Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland, edited by Reverend FO Morris, Volume I, William Mackenzie, London, c1880.
