Michael Edward Hicks Beach, 1st Earl St Aldwyn, English statesman, 1881. Hicks Beach entered Parliament as Conservative MP for East Gloucestershire in 1864. He held a variety of Cabinet posts during his career, including Chancellor of the Exchequer on two occasions, from 1885 to 1886 and again between 1895 and 1902 An engraving from Alexander Charles Ewald's The Right Hon Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield, and His Times, William Mackenzie, London, 1881.
