'The Boer leaders were blindfolded and guarded by soldiers of the Black Watch', 1902, (1905). The Boer War; British soldiers lead Boers blindfold to a meeting to discuss peace terms. This was done because the Boers might not have agreed to make peace, and then the knowledge they had gained of the British camp would have helped them greatly. Illustration from Our Island Story by H E Marshall, published by T C & E C Jack Ltd, (London and Edinburgh, 1905). The book gave a very biased and pro-British view of history.
