'Master of the Rocks' dish decorated with landscape in underglaze blue and red, Kangxi period, Qing dynasty, China, 1671. A small circular dish with slightly everted rim painted in the centre with a landscape scene with a scholar crossing a bridge approaching a pavilion within circular double-line bordered medallion. The scholar, distant mountains, bridges and trees are all painted in underglaze blue in the style of the 'Master of the Rocks', except for the foliage of a tree in the centre, which is drawn in underglaze red. The inner mouth rim is decorated by a narrow band of classic scroll. The footrim has a narrow concave groove forming a double foot rim, which is commonly found in this period.
