The Palace of Westminster is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Built in 1016, demolished in 1834 (due to fire) and rebuilt 1840-70 in Perpendicular Gothic Revival, it is a Grade I listed building and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Architecture by Sir Charles Barry assisted by Augustus Pugin, owned by Queen Elizabeth II in right of the Crown.
