Caption

1921 Carden 7hp Cyclecar. During the 1920s, many small firms were manufacturing light cars and cyclecars. These low-budget runabouts were of simple construction and could be easily maintained. Captain John Valentine Carden began experimenting with light car design in 1913. The first completed vehicles were very crude, having no gears or clutch. By 1919, however, mechanical improvements led to an increase in orders. At the height of their popularity, forty Cardens were assembled each week at the Berkshire factory. Production ceased in 1925.
