Ford plant during construction, Dagenham, Essex, 1930. An interior view of a vast, cavernous building under construction. When production began at the site in 1931, Ford's Dagenham plant was the most modern and best-equipped car factory in the world outside of Detroit. It was also the largest car production plant in Europe.
