Château de Villandry. Restored by Joachim Carvallo, Villandry, château de la Loire, of Renaissance architecture is located 15km West of Tours on the D7. Known for its' 3 gardens, the donjon takes pride of place in the decorative garden (1 hectare), the ornamental garden and the water garden. The interior of the residence dates back to the 18th Century. Villandry, completed around 1536, was the first of the great castles which were built bordering Loire during the Renaissance. Villandry was built under the orders of a finance minister of François Ist, Jean le Breton, whose coat of arms can be seen of the silhouette of the lefthand skylight.
