Hélène Fourment. Second wife of Pierre Paul Rubens. Rubens: born in Siegen in Westphalie, in the Holy Roman germanic Empire, 300 km from Anvers. Her father, Jan Rubens (1530-1587), protestant lawyer, and her mother, Maria Pypelinckx (1537 - 1608) had left Anvers (in the Southern Netherlands) to escape from religious persecution. In 1589, two years after the death of her father, Rubens and his mother returned to Anvers, where he was baptised a Catholic. Alot of his works depict religious subjects. He was married to Isabella Brant from 1609 to 1626, with who he had three children: Clara Serena, Albert and Nicolas, then with Hélène Fourment from 1630 onwards. They had four children together: Clara Johanna, François, Hélène and Pierre Paul.
