The Normans are the current inhabitants of Normandy, but at its origin, this term refers to the "men from the North", the "Northmanni" in latin, the Vikings from Scandanavia, travelling along the Western coasts before settling in Normandy, from where some of them would go on to travel to England, Italy and the Holy Land.
