The torment of Brunehaut. Brunehilde ou Brouniakhildis (in germanic, the armoured Godess of Brunia, related to Khildis, Godess of Victory), was a Visigoth princess, who became Queen of the Franks. Born in Spain around 547 and died as a result of execution in 613 in Renève, she has been referred to by the name "Brunehaut" for a long time by historians of the Middle Ages as well as by contemporary historians. Roger-Xavier Lantéri referred to her by her original name in his biography. 19th Century engraving.
