Chalice, said to belong to "Saint Rémi" (around 437 - 13th January 533), born in the diocese of Laon in 437, Bishop for 22 years then became Archbishop of Reims, apostle of the Franks, is considered to be the official converter of baptism in France to Christianity, in collectively baptising Clovis 1st, the Christian Merovingian King of France in Christmas 496 (approximate date), along with 3,000 warriors and French noblemen. He founded the episcopal sieges of Thérouanne, Laon and Arras. 19th Century engraving.
