Caption

The Grand Trianon in the Palace of Versailles. The first lounge of the Empress. The Chapel Room. Originally intended to be of use as a Chapel, the room became one of Louis XIV's waiting rooms, whilst the King made use of this part of the Palace, in 1691, preserving the state of the altar behind the strengthened door in the backgorund. The cornices, decorated depictions of bunches of grapes and grains of wheat, are there to represent the bread and wine associated with the Eucharist.
