Antoine Magnol was a french doctor and botanist, born in 1676 in Montpellier and died on the 10th March 1759 in the city. He was the son of the botanist Pierre Magnol (1638-1715). In 1696, he became a military serviceman after having been awarded a doctorate in the field of medicine. He returned to the University of Montpellier where he worked for his father from 1707, until 1715 when he took up his profession. He is the author of the "Dissertatio de naturali secretione bilis in jecore" (Montpellier, 1719), "Denatura et causis fluiditatis sanguinis naturalis et deperditæ (Montpellier, 1741) as well as a posthumous edition of certain of his fathers' manuscripts. 19th Century engraving.
