The old Madeleine dam prevented migratory fish from passing between the river and the sea. It was replaced in 2021–2022 by three sluice gates for water management on one side and a fish pass on the other. A flat section allows eels, trout and salmon to pass freely. Concrete blocks on one section reduce the strength of the current for species with weaker swimming abilities.
