Palermo, The Royal Palace or Palazzo dei Normanni (Palace of the Normans), Pisana Tower, the King Roger Room: view of the Room which was commissioned by King Roger II d'Altavilla. It is characterized by large mosaic surfaces of great value representing plant elements (palms and banana trees) and scenes of courtly and hunting style, symbols of the Norman power (hunting scenes with archers and deer, peacocks, swans, and mythological centaurs, griffins and other exotic animals including leopards and tigers among luxuriant vegetation). Mosaics are characterised by Greek Byzantiene style (XIII century).
