Palermo, The Royal Palace or Palazzo dei Normanni (Palace of the Normans), The Palatine Chapel (Basilica): view. In the background the apse and the mosaics (1143). Above the Annunciation; in the bowl - shaped vault, Christ Pantocrator; in the tambour of the apse, the Virgin enthroned with St. Peter Apostle and Mary Magdalene, and John the Baptist and St James Apostle on the right. These last two figures were added at the end of the eighteenth century.
