Pisa, Monumental Cemetery: “Thebaid”, Stories of the Hermits and the Holy Fathers inspired by the Vitae Patrum by the Dominican Domenico Canon Cavalca. Fresco on multiple horizontal and vertical levels with interlocking episodes: St. Paul (the first hermit) meets St. Anthony, St. Anthony casting out the devil, St. Anthony before God, St. Hilarion battling the dragon of Epidaurus, St. Mary of Egypt receiving communion from Abbot Zisimo, St. Martina and St. Macarius, St. Onuphrius, and his disciple Panunzio.
