Firenze, Museo dell'Opera del Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore): “La croce del tesoro di S. Giovanni: il verso”. Splendido esempio di oreficeria rinascimentale, scolpita in lamina d’argento, cesellata e smaltata da Betto di Francesco Betti, Antonio del Pollaiolo e Miliano di Domenico Dei tra il 1457 e il 1459 circa. Venne commissionata a completamento dell’altare d’argento. La Croce-ostensorio è composta da tre parti principali distinte: il Crocifisso, il fusto e la base.
Il lato posteriore è caratterizzato dal San Giovanni Battista al centro di un tempietto di ispirazione brunelleschiana e circondato da due angeli, l’Annunciazione entro medaglioni, i Quattro Evangelisti e l’Agnus Dei.

The Cross of the Treasure of St. John: the verso.This cross is a splendid example of Renaissance jewelery, sculpted in silver foil, chiseled and enameled by Betto di Francesco Betti, Antonio del Pollaiolo and Miliano di Domenico Dei between 1457 and 1459 approximately. It was commissioned to complete the silver altar. The Cross-monstrance is made up of three distinct main parts: the Crucifix, the stem and the base.
The rear face shows St. John the Baptist at the centre of a small temple in the style of Brunelleschi surrounded by two angels, an Annunciation within medallions, the Four Evangelists and Agnus Dei.
