Basilica di S.Ambrogio: altare d’oro o paliotto, Realizzato tra l'824 e l'859, l’altare è firmato da Vuolvino magister phaber (detto anche Volvinio), per questo viene anche chiamato Altare di Vuolvino. Capolavoro dell'oreficeria di epoca carolingia, è realizzato in legno a cui sono state sovrapposte lastre d'oro e d'argento dorato, pietre preziose e smalti.

Basilica of S.Ambrogio: gold altar or frontal, built between 824 and 859, the altar is signed by Vuolvino magister phaber (also called Volvinio), which is why it is also called the Vuolvino Altar. A masterpiece of Carolingian goldsmithery, it is made of wood surmounted by plates of gold and gilded silver, precious stones and enamels.
