Il giovane che, per non essere sommerso dalle acque si aggrappa alla lettera S (Salvus me fac Deus...) è probabilmente da identificarsi con Davide, il re d'Israele cui si attribuivano tradizionalmente i 150 salmi del Salterio.

Genova, the Diocesan Museum: Psalter, membranaceous manuscript by Genoa illuminators, 1485/1490. The young man who, in order not to be submerged by water, clings to the letter S (Salvus me fac Deus ...) is probably to be identified with David, the king of Israel to whom the 150 psalms were traditionally attributed of the Psalter.
