Cefalù, Temple of Diana
Title

Cefalù, Temple of Diana

Caption

Cefalù: remains of the so-called Temple of Diana on the Stronghold (known as Castieddu).
The Temple of Diana is a megalithic structure dating back to the ninth century BC which lies on the cliff located north of the city of Cefalù. The use of the temple is still uncertain but the strategic value of the view on the coast below is clear. Probably it was built for the worship of pagan gods with squared rock blocks.
