German troops pull down a red-and-white turnpike at the German-Polish border during the German invasion to Poland on the 1st of September in 1939. On the same day, Hitler announced the outbreak of World War II by saying "It is shot back since 5.45 a.m." (Although the actual time of attack was 4.45). Three days later, Great Britan and France declared war on Germany.
