Former state secretary in the Reich Justice Ministry, Herbert Klemm, during his sentence. In the trial against 14 Nazi lawyers, the presiding judge James T. Brand did not pronounce a single death sentence, on 4 December 1947. Franz Schlegelberger, Herbert Klemm, Oswald Rothaug, and Rudolf Oeschey were sentenced to life-imprisonment. Ernst Lautz, Wolfgang Mettgenberg, Wilhelm von Ammon, and Günther Joel were each sentenced to ten years imprisonment. Kurt Rothenberger received seven years imprisonment, Josef Altstötter five years. Paul Barnickel, Hans Petersen, Günther Nebelung, and Hermann Cuhorst were acquitted of charge.
