Paradiso (Paradise), Ninth Sphere: The Primum Mobile. Canto XXXI; The Empyrean. The blessed appear in Dante in the form of a white rose, in the centre of which is the Virgin. Saint Bernard replaces Beatrice as a guide. Angels fly around the rose like bees, distributing peace and love.

In 1921, for Dante Aligheri's 600th anniversary of death, the Istituto Nazionale Dantesco chose Amos Nattini to illustrate The Divine Comedy. The illustrations have been published in 1923.
