Four-engine British Short Stirling Mk.I strategic bombers of Bomber Command of the Royal Air Force, the first four-engine heavy bomber in service in the R.A.F.
The Stirling made its first flight in May 1939 and was engaged for first time in an operation, during a raid on Rotterdam, February 11, 1940. Used intensively until 1943, the Stirling was gradually withdrawn from operations as of 1944, and relegated to towing targets and transport.
