Joséphine's fruit bowl was made after her divorce with Napoleon in 1811 and was part of a group comprising of 24 pieces: one was broken (coll. Didier Segon; two were in Malmaison; five or six were kept in a private italian collection before being stolen; and an unspecified number was kept in the State Hermitage Museum.
