The clean-up work around the health resort of Rathen began immediately after the storm event at the end of July. In the area of the rock stage, fallen trees must be flown out of the spectator area and from the roof of the main building. In addition, trees must be secured and removed from the adjacent rocks that are at acute risk of falling. Areas around the blackbird lake currently resemble a game of Mikado with trunks lying on top of each other. Preparations for the helicopter operation have been ongoing for just over a week. Foresters from Sachsenforst and contracted companies work their way through the storm wood with chainsaws, winches help to loosen and pull apart the logs that are wedged into each other.
